Structure analysis of phosphorus compounds within the framework of the Chemical Weapons Convention requires the specific identification of alkyl substituents on phosphorus. In this work the distinction of the P-propyl substituent in propylphosphonic acid derivatives by electrospray tandem mass spectrometry was investigated.
