Abstract 1. A high molecular weight cadmium-binding protein called MP I was isolated from Nereis diversicolor exposed to 20 ppm of cadmium (CdCl 2 ) for 4 days via sea water. 2. The protein had a molecular weight comprising between 20 × 10 6 and 1.5 × 10 6 Da. It shows high absorptions at 280 and 415 nm and contained iron in addition to cadmium. 3.
