To the Editor: We used next­generation sequenc­ ing (NGS) of microbiologic isolates in the molec­ ular tracking of an outbreak source. Our investi­ gation focused on isolates of Salmonella enterica serotype Montevideo that were associated with red and black pepper used in the production of Italian­style spiced meats in a New England pro­ cessing facility.
