BACKGROUND . Integrins induce the formation of large complexes of cytoskeletal and signaling proteins, which regulate many intracellular processes. The activation and assembly of signaling complexes involving focal adhesion kinase (FAK) occurs late in integrin signaling, downstream from actin polymerization.
