Myosins play an important role in various developmental processes in plants. We have identified 14 myosin genes in rice (Oryza sativa cv. Nipponbare) genome using sequence information available in public databases. Phylogenetic analysis of these sequences with other plant and non-plant myosins revealed that two of the predicted sequences belonged to class VIII and the others to class XI.
