Plants protect themselves from pathogen attacks via several mechanisms, including hypersensitive cell death. Recognition of pathogen attack by the plant resistance gene triggers expression of carboxylesterase genes associated with hypersensitive response. We identified six transcripts of carboxylesterase genes, Vitis flexuosa carboxylesterase 5585 (VfCXE5585), VfCXE12827, VfCXE13132, VfCXE17159, VfCXE18231, and VfCXE47674, which showed different expression patterns upon transcriptome analysis… Expand
Genome-Wide Identification and Functional Analysis of Carboxylesterase and Methylesterase Gene Families in Peach (Prunus persica L. Batsch)
TLDR
The results provide an important resource for the identification of functional CXE and MES genes involved in the catabolism of volatile esters, responses to biotic and abiotic stresses and activation of signaling molecules such as MeJA and methyl salicylate. Expand

Identification of six transcripts encoding putative receptor-like protein kinase (RLK) and their expression profiles in Vitis flexuosa infected with pathogens
TLDR
All tested genes showed responses with high and differential expression against pathogens, indicating that all RLK genes may be involved in plant resistance responses against different pathogens in grapevines. Expand
Identification and expression analysis of a pathogen- responsive PR-1 gene from Chinese wild Vitis quinquangularis
TLDR
A pathogen-responsive PR-1 gene designated as VqPR-1 is identified in a subtractive suppression hybridization (SSH) cDNAlibrary from Elsinoe ampelina -inoculated young leaves of Chinese wild Vitis quinquangularis clone ‘shang-24’. Expand
Functional expression of a tobacco gene related to the serine hydrolase family -- esterase activity towards short-chain dinitrophenyl acylesters.
TLDR
Sequence similarities between the tobacco esterase and expressed sequence tags in databases suggest the existence of members of this enzyme family in various plant species. Expand
Transcriptional profiling of ESTs responsive to Rhizobium vitis from 'Tamnara' grapevines (Vitis sp.).
Genes related with defense responses were screened from the cDNA library constructed with Rhizobium vitis-inoculated or salicylic acid (SA)-treated 'Tamnara' grapevine (Vitis sp.) leaves. AmongExpand
The Carboxylesterase Gene Family from Arabidopsis thaliana
Carboxylesterases hydrolyze esters of short-chain fatty acids and have roles in animals ranging from signal transduction to xenobiotic detoxification. In plants, however, little is known of theirExpand
Diversity of Serine Hydrolase Activities of Unchallenged and Botrytis-infected Arabidopsis thaliana*S
TLDR
Besides the down-regulation of several Arabidopsis Ser hydrolase activities during Botrytis infection, the activities ofBotrytis-derived cutinases and lipases are detected, which are thought to contribute to pathogenicity. Expand
A Colletotrichum gloeosporioides-induced esterase gene of nonclimacteric pepper (Capsicum annuum) fruit during ripening plays a role in resistance against fungal infection
TLDR
Results suggest that PepEST is involved in the resistance of ripe fruit against C.gloeosporioides infection, and over-expression of PepEST in transgenic Arabidopsis plants caused restriction of Alternariabr Jurassicicola colonization by inhibition of spore production, resulting in enhanced resistance against A.brassicicola.
