Microsatellite DNA polymorphisms can be utilised to assess intra-specifi c genetic diversity and hence are useful for characterisation of species and strains of trypanosomes. Here, we present four new microsatellite markers specifi c for T. vivax isolated from Ugandan cattle and goats.
