Five new icetexane diterpenoids, namely, perovskatones B-D (1, 3, 4), 1α-hydroxybrussonol (2), and 1α-hydroxypisiferanol (5), were isolated from Perovskia atriplicifolia, together with a new natural product (6) and two known compounds, przewalskin E (7) and brussonol (8). The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by detailed analyses of their MS, IR, 1D, and 2D NMR data. Compounds 1-8 were assayed for their inhibitory hepatitis B virus activities in the HepG 2.2.15 cell line. The…

Four New Diterpene Glucosides from Perovskia atriplicifolia
TLDR
Four new diterpene glucosides, namely perovskiaditerpenosides A – D (1 – 4), were isolated from the BuOH extract of Perovskia atriplicifolia and screened for their cytotoxic activity against HepG2, NB4, HeLa, K562, MCF7, PC3, and HL60.
Antiprotozoal Isoprenoids from Salvia hydrangea.
TLDR
Fractionation of the n-hexane extract of Salvia hydrangea afforded seven isoprenoids including six new compounds (1-6) and salvadione A (7) and a biosynthetic pathway for the formation of the scaffold of 1 is proposed.
Asymmetric Total Synthesis and Biosynthetic Implications of Perovskones, Hydrangenone, and Hydrangenone B.
TLDR
The synthetic work suggests that perovskatone D may serve as the precursor of the biosynthesis ofperovskones and the formation of hydrangenone and hydrangsenone B, containing a five-membered D ring, may involve an oxidative ring cleavage and ring regeneration process.
The genus Perovskia Kar.: ethnobotany, chemotaxonomy and phytochemistry: a review
TLDR
This review paper was undertaken to integrate all the data published about the ethnobotany, phytochemistry and biological activities of species belonging to the genus Perovskia during the past decades to discuss compounds belonging to different classes of natural products worldwide.
Quinone diterpenes from Salvia species: chemistry, botany, and biological activity
TLDR
The results about the botany and the taxonomy of the plant source of these compounds were summarized and the phytochemistry and the biological activities, i.e. anti-cancer, antioxidant, anxiolytic and antidepressant, anti-obesity, antinflammatory, as well as antimicrobial and toxicological aspects was provided.
Collective Syntheses of Icetexane Natural Products Based on Biogenetic Hypotheses.
TLDR
A divergent synthesis of 10 icetexane natural products based on a proposed biogenetic cationic ring expansion of a reduced carnosic acid derivative is described, and additional experimental evidence for the abiotic formation of the methylenedioxy unit is provided.
Metabolomics and DNA-Based Authentication of Two Traditional Asian Medicinal and Aromatic Species of Salvia subg. Perovskia
TLDR
It is demonstrated that DNA barcoding coupled with parallel LC-MS profiling constitutes a powerful tool in identification of taxonomically close Salvia species.
Seasonal Variations of Rosmarinic Acid and Its Glucoside and Expression of Genes Related to Their Biosynthesis in Two Medicinal and Aromatic Species of Salvia subg. Perovskia
TLDR
Two closely related medicinal and aromatic plants from Asia, called Russian sage or from their previously used Latin name–Perovskia, are studied to check if the composition of these plants is regulated by specific genes encoding proteins that assemble these phytochemicals, and two genes pointed out were linked to the regulation of rosmarinic acid biosynthesis.

Phytochemical investigation of Perovskia abrotanoides.
TLDR
The phytochemical investigation of the n-hexane, the EtOAc, and then-BuOH soluble fractions of the methanolic extract of the arial parts of Perovskia abrotanoides Karelin furnished ten compounds including the two new tetracyclic diterpenes abrotandiol and abrotanone, whose complete structure elucidation has been achieved with NMR techniques.
Three New Diterpenoids from Salvia przewalskii MAXIM
Three new compounds including one ortho-quinone-type icetexane diterpenoid, i.e., przewalskin E (1), one abietane dinorditerpenoid. i.e., przewalskin F (2), and one 7,20-epoxyabietane diterpenoid.
A new triterpene and anti-hepatitis B virus active compounds from Alisma orientalis.
TLDR
A new triterpenoid named alisol O was isolated from the rhizomes of Alisma orientalis, together with six known compounds, which exhibited inhibitory activity in vitro on hepatitis B virus (HBV) surface antigen (HBsAg) secretion of the Hep G2.2.
Volatile Components of Perovskia atriplicifolia Benth
Abstract The essential oil isolated by steam distillation from the aerial parts of Perovskia atriplicifolia Benth. was analyzed by capillary GC and GC/MS. Among the 39 compounds identified, the major
Diterpenes from Salvia broussonetii transformed roots and their insecticidal activity.
TLDR
The new diterpenes brussonol and iguestol with an icetexane and a dehydroabietane skeleton, respectively, have been isolated from hairy root cultures of Salvia broussonetii and investigated against the insect pests Spodoptera littoralis and Leptinotarsa decemlineata.
