VERY LITTLE HAS BEEN DEFINITELY ESTABLISHED concerning the relationship of Nietzsche and Ibsen, although it seems unthinkable that the two should not have known each other's works. It is particularly difficult to ignore the likelihood of influence in the case of Ibsen's The Master Builder, which appears to draw directly upon one of Nietzsche's most celebrated essays, On the Genealogy of Morals.
