Glycosides occur in plants as pigments and are used in medication. Our study was planned to isolate the glycosides from five medicinal plants, viz. Convolvulus prostratus, Ficus virens, Phoenix dactifera, Spondias pinnata. and Terminalia belerica. Convolvulus prostratus Forssk. (Convolvulaceae), used to cure mental disorders, contained geranilan-3-ol-1carboxylate -1-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(2′→1′′)-O-β-D-xylopyranoside.(1). Ficus virens Aiton (Moraceae) is used to treat apoplexy, blood diseases… Expand

The flavonoid glycosides and procyanidin composition of Deglet Noor dates (Phoenix dactylifera).
TLDR
The flavonoid glycoside and procyanidin compositions of dates of the cultivar Deglet Noor harvested at the khalal stage of maturity were characterized using liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS/MS). Expand
Bioactivity of Diosmetin Glycosides Isolated from the Epicarp of Date Fruits, Phoenix dactylifera, on the Biochemical Profile of Alloxan Diabetic Male Rats
TLDR
The treatment of diabetic rats with these compounds resulted in marked improvement of the different biochemical results, i.e. the serum glucose level, liver functions markedly developed both by AST and ALT levels, and levels of glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase were increased in liver. Condensed Tannins from Ficus virens as Tyrosinase Inhibitors: Structure, Inhibitory Activity and Molecular Mechanism
TLDR
The results showed that the hydroxyl group on the B ring of the condensed tannins could chelate the dicopper irons of the enzyme and reduce the enzyme product o-quinones into colourless compounds, which would contribute to the development and design of antityrosinase agents. Expand
Carotenoid composition of Algerian date varieties (Phoenix dactylifera) at different edible maturation stages
TLDR
Investigation of the carotenoid composition and the provitamin A value of three palm date varieties from Algeria at three different ripening stages showed that the major carotENoid pigment present in dates is lutein followed by β-carotene, with an evident carOTenoid disappearance during ripening from the khallal to the tamr stage.
