This study investigated whether the previously observed association of pedophilia with lower IQs is an artifact of heterogeneity in referral source. The subjects were 832 adult male patients referred to a specialty clinic for evaluation of their sexual behavior. The patients’ erotic preferences for prepubescent, pubescent, or adult partners were assessed with phallometric testing. Full scale IQ was estimated using six subtests from the WAIS-R. The results showed that the relations between…
Absolute Versus Relative Ascertainment of Pedophilia in Men
The results dramatically demonstrate the utility—or perhaps necessity—of relative ascertainment in the laboratory assessment of erotic age—preference.
Pedophilia, Hebephilia, and the DSM-V
It is indicated that hebephilia exists as a discriminable erotic age-preference by examining the agreement between self-reported sexual interests and objectively recorded penile responses in the laboratory.
Executive Functioning in Pedophilia and Child Sexual Offending
The results are the first to demonstrate that executive dysfunctions are related to offense status rather than pedophilic preference, and there was evidence for differentiating age and performance correlations between pedophiles and non-pedophiles, which warrants further investigation.
Indirect and Neuropsychological Indicators of Pedophilia
The findings suggest that standardized, objective methods can support the assessment of sexual offenders against children in forensic psychiatry and legal psychology.
The Revised Screening Scale for Pedophilic Interests (SSPI–2): Development and Criterion-Related Validation
In the construction sample of 950 offenders with child victims, the SSPI with a fifth item of child pornography (Screening Scale for Pedophilic Interests–2 [SSPI-2]) was significantly associated with phallometrically assessed sexual arousal to children.
Elevated rates of atypical handedness in paedophilia: Theory and implications
A view of ambiguous-handedness as less pathological than previously hypothesized, and of a neurodevelopmental origin of paraphilic sexual preferences are supported.
Physical Height in Pedophilic and Hebephilic Sexual Offenders
Adult men’s height reflects, not only their genetic endowment, but also the conditions that were present during their development in utero and in childhood, which suggests thatpedophilic and hebephilic sexual offenders were subject to conditions capable of affecting their physiological development.
Association between brain structure and phenotypic characteristics in pedophilia.
The Neurobiology and Psychology of Pedophilia: Recent Advances and Challenges
This approach aims to address one of the most significant questions of how pedophilia may be explained by neurobiological and developmental alterations and to provide an update and overview but also a framework for future research.
