Segment Routing can be applied to the IPv6 data plane using a new type of Routing Extension Header. This document describes the Segment Routing Extension Header and how it is used by Segment Routing capable nodes.
Assuring Segment Routing Distributive-ness on OpenFlow Network with Stateful Data Plane
The method uses a decentralized, inter-switch communication channel implemented using state keeping ability of stateful data plane to enable a distributed construction and recovery of segment routing forwarding path and can recover the routing path in a distributed fashion within 1-second latency. A Survey on Segment Routing with Emphasis on Use Cases in Large Provider Networks
The paper describes the segment routing architecture in terms of its positioning vis-à-vis existing networking technologies, as well as the data-plane and the control plane, and reviews the current set of segment routing implementation cases in industry. Expand
Segment Routing in Software Defined Networks: A Survey
A comprehensive review of the novel SR technology by describing its architecture, operations, and key applications to date and identifying an interesting set of future research directions and open issues that can help realize the full potential of the emergent SR paradigm. Expand
Network Programming with SRv6
Segment Routing provides a mechanism that allows a flow to be restricted to a specific topological path, while maintaining per-flow state only at the ingress node(s) to the SR domain. Expand
SR-TPP: Extending IPv6 Segment Routing to enable Trusted and Private Network Paths
SR-TPP is a novel mechanism based on SRv6 to support network path verification meanwhile hides both-end and path information and can assemble private and trusted network paths with acceptable performance. Expand
SR-Snort: IPv6 Segment Routing Aware IDS/IPS
This paper extended the open-source implementation of Snort, a SR-aware intrusion detection system (IDS) and intrusion prevention system (IPS), so it can apply the configured rules to the inner packet of SR traffic. Expand
Adaptive Addresses for Next Generation IP Protocol in Hierarchical Networks
We propose the adaptive addresses under a hierarchical network structure, which can be realized in a newer generation of IP protocol (i.e., IPvn). It minimizes the communication overhead, enablesExpand
Experimenting with SRv6: a Tunneling Protocol supporting Network Slicing in 5G and beyond
This paper analyzes the use of an alternative tunnelling protocol to transport user data, namely, Segment Routing IPv6 (SRv6), and discusses its qualitative advantages, presents a prototype implementation, and carries out an experimental comparison vs. GTP, confirming that it constitutes a valid alternative as tunnell protocol. Implementation of Accurate Per-Flow Packet Loss Monitoring in Segment Routing over IPv6 Networks
This paper discusses the proposed PM approaches, considering both data plane and control plane aspects and focusing on loss monitoring, and describes the implementation of a per-flow packet loss measurement (PF-PLM) solution based on the “alternate marking” method. Expand
SDN Architecture and Southbound APIs for IPv6 Segment Routing Enabled Wide Area Networks
The advantages of complementing the SRv6 technology with an software defined networking (SDN) based approach in backbone networks is described and an Intent-based emulation system to build realistic and reproducible experiments is realized. Expand
