We study a minimally coupled tachyon field rolling down to its ground state on the FRW brane. We construct tachyonic potential which can implement power law inflation in the brane world cosmology. The potential turns out to be V0ϕ-1 on the brane and reduces to inverse square potential at late times when brane corrections to the Friedmann equation become negligible. We also do similar exercise with a normal scalar field and discover that the inverse square potential on the brane leads to power…

Note on inflation with a tachyon rolling on the Gauss-Bonnet brane

In this paper we study the tachyonic inflation in brane world cosmology with Gauss-Bonnet term in the bulk. We obtain the exact solution of slow roll equations in case of exponential potential. We

Tachyon inflation in an AdS braneworld with backreaction

We analyze the inflationary scenario based on the tachyon field coupled with the radion of the second Randall–Sundrum model (RSII). The tachyon Lagrangian is derived from the dynamics of a 3-brane

Inflation in anisotropic brane universe using tachyon field

Cosmological solution to the gravitational field equations in the generalized Randall–Sundrum model for an anisotropic brane with Bianchi-I geometry and perfect fluid as matter sources has been

Remarks on Tachyon Driven Cosmology

We begin by reviewing the results on the decay of unstable D-branes in type II string theory, and the open–closed string duality proposal that arises from these studies. We then apply this proposal

Inflation from tachyon condensation, large N effects

Using only general properties of the tachyon potential we show that inflation may be generic when many branes and anti-branes become coincident. Inflation may occur because of: (1) the assistance of

Geometrical tachyon dynamics in the background of a bulk tachyon field

We study the dynamics of a D3-brane moving in the background of a bulk tachyon field of a D3-brane solution of Type-0 string theory. We show that the dynamics on the probe D3-brane can be described

Tachyon field non-minimally coupled to massive neutrino matter

In this paper, we consider rolling tachyon, with steep run-away type of potentials non-minimally coupled to massive neutrino matter. The coupling dynamically builds up at late times as neutrino

Relic gravity waves from braneworld inflation

We discuss a scenario in which extra dimensional effects allow a scalar field with a steep potential to play the dual role of the inflaton as well as dark energy (quintessence). The post-inflationary

Space-time symmetries and vortices in the cosmos

By carefully studying the (1, 0) ⊕ (0, 1) representation space for massive particles we point to the existence of certain inherent tachyonic dispersion relations: E2 = p2 − m2. We put forward an

An Alternative to compactification

Conventional wisdom states that Newton's force law implies only four noncompact dimensions. We demonstrate that this is not necessarily true in the presence of a nonfactorizable background geometry.
