IL-15 is involved in broad effector functions of the immune response in innate immunity mediated by macrophages, neutrophils and NK cells and in acquired immunity mediated by antigen-activated T and B lymphocytes. Also, IL-15 is an important apoptosis inhibitor and acts on other non immune cells.
