The objective was to study the displacement of the cerebrospinal fluid pressure-volume curve during the descent relative to the ascent of intracranial pressure recorded during the cerebrospinal fluid constant rate infusion test. This phenomenon can be interpreted as the hysteresis of the pressure-volume curve. The cerebrospinal fluid dynamics were tested in fifty-eight patients with clinical symptoms of hydrocephalus.
