Hypercholesteremia is one of the risk factors for coronary artery disease. Mushrooms are low calorie food with very little fat and are highly suitable for obese persons. The present study highlights the efficacy of edible mushroom Pleurotus djamor var. roseus extracts on total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), High density lipoprotein (HDL) and free fatty acid in experimentally induced hypercholesteromic rats. Five group of rats were employed which…

Antihypercholesterolemic Effects of Mushroom, Chrysin, Curcumin and Omega-3 in Experimental Hypercholesterolemic Rats
TLDR
Flavonoids (mushroom, chrysin, curcumin) and omega-3 possess antihypercholesterolemic effects at biochemical, molecular and histopathological levels and are useful in treatment of hypercholesterolesmia with lower side effects compared with synthetic hypolipidemic drugs.
Evaluation of antihyperlipidemic activity of ethanolic root extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn.
TLDR
The ethanolic extracts of Glycyrrhizaglabra, significantly decreased the serum lipid profile level in a dose dependent manner in wistar rats, and support the fact that this plant is used traditionally as antihyperlipidemic.
Evaluation of antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant activity of Rubia Cordifolia Linn.
TLDR
Overall, findings from the present study suggest that the antihyperlipidemic activity observed with Atorvastatin and the ethanolic extracts of Rubia cordifolia showed better activity thanaqueous extracts ofRubia Cordifolia (200mg/kg).
Cardio-protective and Anti-atherosclerosis Effect of Crocetin on Vitamin D3 and HFD-induced Atherosclerosis in Rats.
TLDR
Crocetin had anti-atherosclerosis and cardio-protective effects on vitamin D3 and high fat induced atherosclerosis in rats through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mechanisms.
Anti-hyperlipidemic herbs in siddha system of medicine
TLDR
This piece of writing reviews the anti- hyperlipidemic activity of the most familiar medicinal plants in siddha system of medicine and gives the undeviating pledge for the society in the management of such chronic ailments.
Effects of Dichloromethane-Methanolic Leaf Extracts of Carissa edulis (Forssk) Vahl on Serum Lipid Profiles in Normal Rat Models
TLDR
The results of this study showed that DCM-MeOH leaf extract of C. edulis induced general changes in serum lipid profiles of normal rats, which indicated that the plant extract may be useful in the management of lipid related disorders.
Nutritional and medicinal benefits of Oyster (Pleurotus) mushrooms: a review
TLDR
The major nutritional and medicinal benefits of important Pleurotus species are discussed in the present review.
SUB-ACUTE TOXICITY STUDIES OF ETHANOL AND N-HEXANE CRUDE SEED EXTRACTS OF ANNONA MURICATA IN ALBINO RATS
TLDR
The results of the present study suggest that Annona muricata seed extracts (ethanol and n-hexane) could be considered safe within the doses of ≤ 5000mg/kg and exhibit hypolipidemic effect and the extracts could be a potent agent for the management of coronary heart diseases and obesity.
Nutritional composition and antioxidant activity of pink oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus djamor var. roseus) grown on a paddy straw substrate
