Twenty water-soluble mucilages obtained from plants in the Liliaceae, Amaryllidaceae, Dioscoreaceae, Orchidaceae, Saxifragaceae, Malvaceae and Plantaginaceae families were tested for the hypoglycemic activity on administration to normal mice.
