We present a mechanism for accelerated expansion of the universe in the generic case of negative-curvature compactifications of M-theory, with minimal ingredients. M-theory on a hyperbolic manifold with small closed geodesics supporting Casimir energy -- along with a single classical source (7-form flux) -- contains an immediate 3-term structure for volume stabilization at positive potential energy. Hyperbolic manifolds are well-studied mathematically, with an important rigidity property at…
Emergent strings at infinite distance with broken supersymmetry
We investigate the infinite-distance properties of families of unstable flux vacua in string theory with broken supersymmetry. To this end, we employ a generalized notion of distance in the moduli
Bootstrap bounds on closed hyperbolic manifolds
Abstract The eigenvalues of the Laplace-Beltrami operator and the integrals of products of eigenfunctions must satisfy certain consistency conditions on compact Riemannian manifolds. These
Loops, Local Corrections and Warping in the LVS and other Type IIB Models
: To establish metastable de Sitter vacua or even just scale-separated AdS, control over perturbative corrections to the string-derived leading-order 4d lagrangian is crucial. Such corrections can be
The FL bound and its phenomenological implications
Abstract Demanding that charged Nariai black holes in (quasi-)de Sitter space decay without becoming super-extremal implies a lower bound on the masses of charged particles, known as the Festina
Asymptotic Safety: Swampland or Wonderland?
We investigate the consequences of combining swampland conjectures with the requirement of asymptotic safety. To this end, we explore the infrared regime of asymptotically safe gravity in the
de Sitter Microstates from $T\bar T+\Lambda_2$ and the Hawking-Page Transition
We obtain microstates accounting for the Gibbons-Hawking entropy in dS3, along with a subleading logarithmic correction, from the solvable T T̄ + Λ2 deformation of a seed CFT with sparse light
Snowmass White Paper: Cosmology at the Theory Frontier
The precision cosmological model describing the origin and expansion history of the universe, with observed structure seeded at the inflationary cosmic horizon, demands completion in the ultraviolet
de Sitter Microstates from T ¯ T + Λ 2 and the Hawking-Page Transition
: We obtain microstates accounting for the Gibbons-Hawking entropy in dS 3 , along with a subleading logarithmic correction, from the solvable T ¯ T + Λ 2 deformation of a seed CFT with sparse light
Snowmass White Paper: String Theory and Particle Physics
: We review recent developments and outstanding questions regarding connecting the top-down UV complete physical framework of string theory with the observed physics of the Standard Model and beyond
Bayesian Reasoning in Eternal Inflation: A Solution to the Measure Problem
Probabilities in eternal inflation are traditionally defined as limiting frequency distributions, but a unique and unambiguous probability measure remains elusive. In this paper, we present a different

Kaluza-Klein Towers on General Manifolds
A higher-dimensional universe with compactified extra dimensions admits a four-dimensional description consisting of an infinite Kaluza-Klein tower of fields. We revisit the problem of describing the
FRW Solutions and Holography from Uplifted AdS/CFT
Starting from concrete AdS/CFT dual pairs, one can introduce ingredients which produce cosmological solutions, including metastable de Sitter and its decay to non-accelerating FRW. We present simple
Monodromy in the CMB: Gravity Waves and String Inflation
We present a simple mechanism for obtaining large-field inflation, and hence a gravitational wave signature, from string theory compactified on twisted tori. For nil manifolds, we obtain a leading
New dimensions for wound strings: The modular transformation of geometry to topology
We show, using a theorem of Milnor and Margulis, that string theory on compact negatively curved spaces grows new effective dimensions as the space shrinks, generalizing and contextualizing the
Quantum horizons of the standard model landscape
The long-distance effective field theory of our Universe—the Standard Model coupled to gravity—has a unique 4D vacuum, but we show that it also has a landscape of lower-dimensional vacua, with the
FRW solutions and holography from uplifted AdS/CFT systems
Starting from concrete AdS/CFT dual pairs, one can introduce ingredients which produce cosmological solutions, including metastable de Sitter and its decay to nonaccelerating FRW. We present simple
Supergravity description of field theories on curved manifolds and a no go theorem
In the first part of this paper we find supergravity solutions corresponding to branes on worldvolumes of the form Rd×Σ where Σ is a Riemann surface. These theories arise when we wrap branes on
The powers of monodromy
A bstractFlux couplings to string theory axions yield super-Planckian field ranges along which the axion potential energy grows. At the same time, other aspects of the physics remain essentially
Compact hyperbolic extra dimensions: branes, kaluza-klein modes, and cosmology
TLDR
It is shown that the spectrum of Kaluza-Klein modes is radically altered, which allows the early Universe to evolve normally up to substantial temperatures, and completely negates the astrophysical constraints on M(*.
Classical de Sitter Solutions of 10-Dimensional Supergravity.
TLDR
Four-dimensional de Sitter compactifications of type IIA supergravity by directly solving the 10-dimensional equations of motion can be found and their fate in string theory depends on quantum corrections.
