The reversibility of hyperactivated motility was tested in caudal epididymal mouse sperm by treating them with 1 microM calcium ionophore A23187 in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), followed 2 min later by the addition of medium containing high levels of bovine serum albumin (BSA) (final concentrations: 0.5 microM A23187, 22 mg/ml BSA).
