A bacterium with an exceptional ability to hydrolyse fenamiphos and its toxic oxidation products fenamiphos sulfoxide and fenamiphos sulfone, all possessing POC bond was isolated from soil. Based on 16S rRNA gene determination, this bacterium was putatively identified as Microbacterium esteraromaticum.
