Hydrogen sulfide (H(2)S) has been classified as a third novel gasotransmitter signaling molecule alongside nitric oxide and carbon monoxide. H(2)S rapidly travels through the cell membranes without using any specific receptors/transporters and signaling intracellular proteins.
