A bstractIn this paper, using the Gauge/gravity duality techniques, we explore the hydrodynamic regime of a very special class of strongly coupled QFTs that come up with an emerging UV length scale in the presence of a negative hyperscaling violating exponent. The dual gravitational counterpart for these QFTs consists of scalar dressed black brane solutions of exactly integrable Einstein-scalar gravity model with Domain Wall (DW) asymptotics. In the first part of our analysis we compute the R…

Brane solutions sourced by a scalar with vanishing potential and classification of scalar branes

We derive exact brane solutions of minimally coupled Einstein-Maxwell-scalar gravity in d + 2 dimensions with a vanishing scalar potential and we show that these solutions are conformal to the

Hyperscaling violation, quasinormal modes and shear diffusion

We study quasinormal modes of shear gravitational perturbations for hyperscaling violating Lifshitz theories, with Lifshitz and hyperscaling violating exponents z and θ. The lowest quasinormal mode

The Transport Coefficients

From AdS/CFT correspondence to hydrodynamics

We compute the correlation functions of R-charge currents and components of the stress-energy tensor in the strongly coupled large-N finite-temperature = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, following

Hyperscaling violation for scalar black branes in arbitrary dimensions

A bstractWe extend to black branes (BB) in arbitrary dimensions the results of ref. [1] about hyperscaling violation and phase transition for scalar black 2-branes. We derive the analytic form of the

Phase transition and hyperscaling violation for scalar black branes

A bstractWe investigate the thermodynamical behavior and the scaling symmetries of the scalar dressed black brane (BB) solutions of a recently proposed, exactly integrable Einstein-scalar gravity

Viscosity to entropy ratio at extremality

Assuming gauge theory realization at the boundary, we show that the viscosity to entropy ratio is 1/(4π) where the bulk is represented by a large class of extremal black holes in anti-deSitter space.

Transport coefficients at zero temperature from extremal black holes

Using the AdS/CFT correspondence we study transport coefficients of a strongly-coupled (2 + 1)-dimensional field theory at zero temperature and finite charge density. The field theory under

Hidden Fermi surfaces in compressible states of gauge-gravity duality

General scaling arguments, and the behavior of the thermal entropy density, are shown to lead to an infrared metric holographically representing a compressible state with hidden Fermi surfaces. This

Aspects of holography for theories with hyperscaling violation

A bstractWe analyze various aspects of the recently proposed holographic theories with general dynamical critical exponent z and hyperscaling violation exponent θ. We first find the basic constraints

Black brane solutions and their solitonic extremal limit in Einstein-scalar gravity

We investigate static, planar, solutions of Einstein-scalar gravity admitting an anti-de Sitter (AdS) vacuum. When the squared mass of the scalar field is positive and the scalar potential can be

Transport coefficients, membrane couplings and universality at extremality

We present an efficient method for computing the zero frequency limit of transport coefficients in strongly coupled field theories described holographically by higher derivative gravity theories.
