The myeloid zinc finger gene 1 (MZF1) encodes a C(2)H(2) zinc finger transcription factor that regulates granulopoiesis and may have a regulatory role in cellular proliferation and oncogenesis. The MZF1 gene has been previously reported to be 3kb and without introns. However, at least three transcripts of approximately 3, 7.5, and 9kb are detected by MZF1-specific probes in northern blot analysis and the identity of the transcripts has not been addressed.
