We present the results from a weak gravitational lensing study of the merging cluster A520 based on the analysis of Hubble Space Telescope/Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) data. The excellent data quality allows us to reach a mean number density of source galaxies of ~109 per sq. arcmin, which improves both resolution and significance of the mass reconstruction compared to a previous study based on Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) images. We take care in removing instrumental effects such… Expand
MC2: Subaru and Hubble Space Telescope Weak-lensing Analysis of the Double Radio Relic Galaxy Cluster PLCK G287.0+32.9
The second most significant detection of the Planck Sunyaev-Zel'dovich survey, PLCK G287.0+32.9 (z = 0.385), boasts two similarly bright radio relics and a radio halo. One radio relic is locatedExpand
MC2:galaxy imaging and redshift analysis of the merging cluster CIZA J2242.8+5301
X-ray and radio observations of CIZA J2242.8+5301 suggest that it is a major cluster merger. Despite being well studied in the X-ray and radio, little has been presented on the cluster structure andExpand
MC 2 : CONSTRAINING THE DARK MATTER DISTRIBUTION OF THE VIOLENT MERGING GALAXY CLUSTER CIZA J2242.8+5301 BY PIERCING THROUGH THE MILKY WAY
The galaxy cluster CIZA J2242.8+5301 at z = 0.19 is a merging system with a prominent (2 Mpc long) radio relic, which together with the morphology of the X-ray emission provides strong evidence for aExpand
Dark matter halo properties of GAMA galaxy groups from 100 square degrees of KiDS weak lensing data
The Kilo-Degree Survey is an optical wide-field survey designed to map the matter distribution in the Universe using weak gravitational lensing. In this paper, we use these data to measure theExpand
The behaviour of dark matter associated with four bright cluster galaxies in the 10 kpc core of Abell 3827
Galaxy cluster Abell 3827 hosts the stellar remnants of four almost equally bright elliptical galaxies within a core of radius 10 kpc. Such corrugation of the stellar distribution is very rare, andExpand
Sparse reconstruction of the merging A520 cluster system
Merging galaxy clusters present a unique opportunity to study the properties of dark matter in an astrophysical context. These are rare and extreme cosmic events in which the bulk of the baryonicExpand

The Ellipticity Distribution of Ambiguously Blended Objects
Using overlapping fields with space-based Hubble Space Telescope and ground-based Subaru Telescope imaging we identify a population of blended galaxies that are blended to such a large degree thatExpand
The Canadian Cluster Comparison Project: detailed study of systematics and updated weak lensing masses
Masses of clusters of galaxies from weak gravitational lensing analyses of ever larger samples are increasingly used as the reference to which baryonic scaling relations are compared. In this paperExpand
The merging galaxy cluster A520 --- a broken-up cool core, a dark subcluster, and an X-ray channel
We present results from a deep Chandra X-ray observation of a merging galaxy cluster A520. A high-resolution gas temperature map, after the subtraction of the cluster-scale emission, reveals a longExpand
