The recent paper by Rafael Govaerts (2001) in Taxon 's Points of View and his omission of my counts in my recent Botanical Review paper (Thorne, 2000a) inspired me to recount (several times) the figures in my latest update of my classification of the angiosperms. I am amazed at the complicated ways Govaerts has used to estimate the number of species of seed plants.
