THE SAN FRANCISCO WOMEN’S MOTORCYCLE CONTINGENT (“SFWMC”) was formed in 1976 and organizes, as one of its largest and most high profile events, the Dykes on Bikes contingent as part of the annual San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Parade.2 While this Dykes on Bikes tradition has taken place since 1976,3 the SFWMC did not seek to register the DYKES ON BIKES trademark until 2003.
