The formation of hormogonia in the nostocalean cyanophytes/cyanobacteria Hapalosiphon fontinalis (C. Agardh) Bornet and Fischerella sp. was studied in natural populations collected from the Klin peatbog, northern Slovakia. Hormogonia were produced terminally in lateral branches of filaments (both species), or also directly on the main branches (Fischerella sp.).
