The species composition and diversity of benthic meiofaunal communities inhabiting the fringing reef lagoon of Anse Forbans were studied during two field collections in the years 1999 and 2000. The Anse Forbans is a sandy beach, on the SE coast of Mahé, which shows a physical and biological zonation parallel to the shore. The meiofauna in the sediments of the zones was dominated by polychaetes, especially the Syllidae. Thirty-three different syllid species belonging to sixteen generic taxa were…

Microhabitat selection in a local syllid assemblage with the first record of Syllis hyllebergi (Syllinae) in the central Mediterranean
A remarkable population of the new record Syllis hyllebergi has been found, mainly distributed in the upper coarser sediment with a greater content of shell debris, which might spread from the Levantine Sea to the central Mediterranean, step by step throughout similar confined transitional environments.
Microphthalmus mahensis sp.n. (Annelida, Phyllodocida) together with an annotated key of the genus
An interstitial polychaete, Microphthalmus mahensis, new species (Phyllodocida), is described from sand sediments of a coral reef flat of the Seychelles island Mahé. A comprehensive discussion

Ikosipodoides seychellensis, a new genus and species of interstitial polychaetes (Dorvilleidae) from the island of Mahé, Indian Ocean
Lower intertidal or shallow subtidal regions of sand beaches throughout the world are inhabited by one or another species of tiny dorvilleid polychaetes, a group for which an evolutionary origin by
Polychaete Vertical Zonation along a Littoral Cliff in the Western Méditerranean
Along the vertical cliff of Romito (Leghorn, Italy) 97 polychaete species were found from 0 to 6 m depth and three depth related communities could be identified, consistent with the principal models proposed for the Mediterranean.

The flora, fauna and sediments of the marine grass beds of Mahé, Seychelles
Summary Extensive marine grass beds occur on both windward and sheltered reef flats off Mahe. Six species of angiosperms are found: their leaves being covered by epiphytic algae which help to trap
Molecular taxonomy: description of a cryptic Petitia species (Polychaeta: Syllidae) from the island of Mahé (Seychelles, Indian Ocean) using RAPD markers and ITS2 sequences
Phenotypically the polychaete belongs to Petitia amphophthalma Siewing, 1956, one of the numerous meiofaunal species that have previously been regarded as cosmopolitan.
