Epidemiological and clinical data suggest that homocysteine (Hcy) may increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease, but the underlying mechanisms are elusive. To investigate the effect of Hcy on phosphorylation of tau, we injected Hcy into the lateral cerebral ventricle of rats.
