In this chapter, I shall present ‘holy hip-hop’ as a phenomenon of social change, the transformative and hybridizing processes located in the contact zone between the secular and the sacred. I shall argue that such change conceptualized within the framework of the sociology of language and religion is facilitated both through the secularization of traditional religious language as well as through borrowing and sacralization of secular language and values (cf.
