Phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA) has a prompt, differential, and partially reversible effect on cultured chick Chondroblasts. Within 36 hr PMA transforms sessile, polygonal, epithelioid Chondroblasts into motile, multilayered, fibroblastic cells.
