A bstractWe develop techniques, based on differential geometry, to compute holomorphic Yukawa couplings for heterotic line bundle models on Calabi-Yau manifolds defined as complete intersections in projective spaces. It is shown explicitly how these techniques relate to algebraic methods for computing holomorphic Yukawa couplings. We apply our methods to various examples and evaluate the holomorphic Yukawa couplings explicitly as functions of the complex structure moduli. It is shown that the…
Holomorphic Yukawa couplings for complete intersection Calabi-Yau manifolds
A bstractWe develop methods to compute holomorphic Yukawa couplings for heterotic compactifications on complete intersection Calabi-Yau manifolds, generalising results of an earlier paper for
Jumping spectra and vanishing couplings in heterotic Line Bundle Standard Models
Abstract We study two aspects of the physics of heterotic Line Bundle Standard Models on smooth Calabi-Yau threefolds. First, we investigate to what degree modern moduli stabilization scenarios
Generalized vanishing theorems for Yukawa couplings in heterotic compactifications
Heterotic compactifications on Calabi-Yau threefolds frequently exhibit textures of vanishing Yukawa couplings in their low energy description. The vanishing of these couplings is often not enforced
Matter field Kähler metric in heterotic string theory from localisation
A bstractWe propose an analytic method to calculate the matter field Kähler metric in heterotic compactifications on smooth Calabi-Yau three-folds with Abelian internal gauge fields. The matter field
Quantum Sheaf Cohomology on Grassmannians
In this paper we study the quantum sheaf cohomology of Grassmannians with deformations of the tangent bundle. Quantum sheaf cohomology is a (0,2) deformation of the ordinary quantum cohomology ring,
SO(32) heterotic line bundle models
A bstractWe search for the three-generation standard-like and/or Pati-Salam models from the SO(32) heterotic string theory on smooth, quotient complete intersection Calabi-Yau threefolds with
Non-vanishing superpotentials in heterotic string theory and discrete torsion
A bstractWe study the non-perturbative superpotential in E8 × E8 heterotic string theory on a non-simply connected Calabi-Yau manifold X, as well as on its simply connected covering space X˜$$
Coupling patterns in heterotic calabi-Yau models
We describe the structure of relationships between, and vanishings of, couplings that can occur at high energies in smooth compactifications of the heterotic string. We begin with an explanation of
Gauged supergravities from M-theory reductions
A bstractIn supergravity compactifications, there is in general no clear prescription on how to select a finite-dimensional family of metrics on the internal space, and a family of forms on which to
Vanishing Yukawa Couplings and the Geometry of String Theory Models
We provide an overview of recent work which aims to understand patterns of vanishing Yukawa couplings that arise in models of particle physics derived from string theory. These patterns are seemingly

Yukawa couplings in heterotic standard models
In this paper, we present a formalism for computing the Yukawa couplings in heterotic standard models. This is accomplished by calculating the relevant triple products of cohomology groups, leading
Monad bundles in heterotic string compactifications
In this paper, we study positive monad vector bundles on complete intersection Calabi-Yau manifolds in the context of E8 × E8 heterotic string compactifications. We show that the class of such
Heterotic Compactification, An Algorithmic Approach
We approach string phenomenology from the perspective of computational algebraic geometry, by providing new and efficient techniques for proving stability and calculating particle spectra in
A standard model from the E(8) x E(8) heterotic superstring
In a previous paper, we introduced a heterotic standard model and discussed its basic properties. This vacuum has the spectrum of the MSSM with one additional pair of Higgs-Higgs conjugate fields and
Yukawa textures from heterotic stability walls
A holomorphic vector bundle on a Calabi-Yau threefold, X, with h1,1(X) ≥ 2 can have regions of its Kähler cone where it is slope-stable, that is, where the four-dimensional theory is $ \mathcal{N} =
Heterotic line bundle standard models
A bstractIn a previous publication, arXiv:1106.4804, we have found 200 models from heterotic Calabi-Yau compactifications with line bundles, which lead to standard models after taking appropriate
The MSSM spectrum from (0,2)-deformations of the heterotic standard embedding
A bstractWe construct supersymmetric compactifications of E8×E8 heterotic string theory which realise exactly the massless spectrum of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) at low
The moduli space of heterotic line bundle models: a case study for the tetra-quadric
A bstractIt has recently been realised that polystable, holomorphic sums of line bundles over smooth Calabi-Yau three-folds provide a fertile ground for heterotic model building. Large numbers of
Calabi‐Yau Manifolds: A Bestiary for Physicists
Calabi-Yau spaces are complex spaces with a vanishing first Chern class, or equivalently, with trivial canonical bundle (canonical class). They are used to construct possibly realistic (super)string
