We discuss the calculation of the field theory stress tensor from the dual geometry for two recent proposals for gravity duals of non-relativistic conformal field theories. The first of these has a Schrodinger symmetry including Galilean boosts, while the second has just an anisotropic scale invariance (the Lifshitz case). For the Lifshitz case, we construct an appropriate action principle. We propose a definition of the non-relativistic stress tensor complex for the field theory as an…

A holographic description of negative energy states

Using the AdS/CFT duality, we study the expectation value of stress tensor in 2 + 1-dimensional quantum critical theories with a general dynamical scaling z, and explore various constrains on

Massive quasinormal mode in the holographic Lifshitz theory

We investigate the holographic renormalization of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory which provides an asymptotic Lifshitz geometry dual to a Lifshitz field theory. In this case, the existence of a

A boundary stress tensor for higher-derivative gravity in AdS and Lifshitz backgrounds

We investigate the Brown-York stress tensor for curvature-squared theories. This requires a generalized Gibbons-Hawking term in order to establish a well-posed variational principle, which is

Holographic stress tensor of colored Lifshitz spacetimes and hairy black holes

We compute the holographic stress tensor of colored Lifshitz spacetimes following the proposal by Ross-Saremi for gravity duals of non-relativistic theories. For a well-defined variational principle,

A Fefferman-Graham-like expansion for null warped AdS3

We consider null warped AdS3 solutions of three-dimensional gravity coupled to a massive vector field. We isolate a certain set of non-propagating solutions to the equations of motion, which we argue

Novel Features of the Transport Coefficients in Lifshitz Black Branes

We study the transport coefficients, including the conductivities and shear viscosity of the non-relativistic field theory dual to the Lifshitz black brane with multiple U(1) gauge fields by virtue

Holography for Schrödinger backgrounds

We discuss holography for Schrödinger solutions of both topologically massive gravity in three dimensions and massive vector theories in (d + 1) dimensions. In both cases the dual field theory can be

A Stress Tensor for Anti-de Sitter Gravity

Abstract:We propose a procedure for computing the boundary stress tensor associated with a gravitating system in asymptotically anti-de Sitter space. Our definition is free of ambiguities encountered

Non-relativistic holography

We consider holography for d-dimensional scale invariant but non-Lorentz invariant field theories, which do not admit the full Schrodinger symmetry group. We find new realizations of the

Comments on string theory backgrounds with non-relativistic conformal symmetry

We consider non-relativistic conformal quantum mechanical theories that arise by doing discrete light cone quantization of field theories. If the field theory has a gravity dual, then the conformal

Gravity duals for nonrelativistic conformal field theories.

This work attempts to generalize the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence to nonrelativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations, and constructs a family of metrics which realize these symmetries as isometries.

Gravity duals for non-relativistic CFTs

We attempt to generalize the AdS/CFT correspondence to non-relativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations. Such systems govern ultracold atoms at unitarity,

The holographic Weyl anomaly

We calculate the Weyl anomaly for conformal field theories that can be described via the adS/CFT correspondence. This entails regularizing the gravitational part of the corresponding supergravity

1/N Effects in Non-Relativistic Gauge-Gravity Duality

We argue that higher-curvature terms in the gravitational Lagrangian lead, via non-relativistic gauge-gravity duality, to finite renormalization of the dynamical exponent of the dual conformal field

Heating up Galilean holography

We embed a holographic description of a quantum field theory with Galilean conformal invariance in string theory. The key observation is that such field theories may be realized as conventional

Lecture notes on holographic renormalization

We review the formalism of holographic renormalization. We start by discussing mathematical results on asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetimes. We then outline the general method of
