We study the addition of flavor to the gravity dual of = 4 three-dimensional gauge theories obtained by wrapping Nc D4-branes on a two-cycle of a non-compact Calabi-Yau two-fold. In this setup the flavor is introduced by adding another set of D4-branes that are extended along the non-compact directions of the Calabi-Yau which are normal to the cycle which the color branes wrap. The analysis is performed both in the quenched and unquenched approximations. In this latter case we compute the…

Glueball spectra of SQCD-like theories
We study the spectrum of scalar glueballs in SQCD-like theories whose gravity description is in terms of Nc D5 color branes wrapped on an S2 inside a CY3-fold, and Nf backreacting D5 flavor branes
Holographic duals of SQCD models in low dimensions
We obtain gravity duals to supersymmetric gauge theories in two and three spacetime dimensions with unquenched flavor. The supergravity solutions are generated by a set of color branes wrapping a
Gravity duals of 2d supersymmetric gauge theories
We find new supergravity solutions generated by D5-branes wrapping a four-cycle and preserving four and two supersymmetries. We first consider the configuration in which the fivebranes wrap a

Aspects of Gauge-Gravity Duality
In this Ph.D. thesis, we study various backgrounds in Type IIB supergravity which admit interpretations in terms a dual field theory, and compute properties such as effective potentials and spectra,
String duals of two-dimensional (4, 4) supersymmetric gauge theories
We study duals to field theories in two dimensions with = (4, 4) SUSY. The string backgrounds reproduce certain non-perturbative aspects of the dual field theory with a large number of colors Nc and
Towards unquenched holographic magnetic catalysis
We propose a string dual to the SU(Nc) $ \mathcal{N} = 4 $ SYM coupled to Nf massless fundamental flavors in an external magnetic field. The flavors are introduced by homogeneously smeared Nf

Gauge theories from wrapped and fractional branes
Abstract We compare two applications of the gauge/gravity correspondence to a nonconformal gauge theory, based respectively on the study of D-branes wrapped on supersymmetric cycles and of fractional
Holographic flavor on the Higgs branch
In this paper we study the holographic dual, in several spacetime dimensions, of the Higgs branch of gauge theories with fundamental matter. These theories contain defects of various
Mirror Symmetry in Three-Dimensional Gauge Theories, Quivers and D-Branes
We construct and analyze dual N = 4 supersymmetric gauge theories in three dimensions with unitary and symplectic gauge groups. The gauge groups and the field content of the theories are encoded in

Wrapped five-branes and N=2 superYang-Mills theory
We construct D=10 supergravity solutions corresponding to type IIB fivebranes wrapping a two-sphere in a Calabi-Yau two-fold. These are related in the IR to the large N limit of pure N=2 SU(N) super

In the context of AdS/CFT, we consider a cascading theory with an arbitrarily large number of chiral flavors. In the UV the theory can be considered as a chiral flavoring of the Klebanov-Tseytlin
