A bstractWe construct zero-temperature geometries that interpolate between a Lifshitz fixed point in the UV and an IR phase that breaks spatial rotations but preserves translations. We work with a simple holographic model describing two massive gauge fields coupled to gravity and a neutral scalar. Our construction can be used to describe RG flows in non-relativistic, strongly coupled quantum systems with nematic order in the IR. In particular, when the dynamical critical exponent of the UV…

Towards holographic flat bands
Motivated by the phenomenology in the condensed-matter flat-band Dirac systems, we here construct a holographic model that imprints the symmetry breaking pattern of a rather simple Dirac fermion
Spatial Anisotropy in Nonrelativistic Holography
We examine holographic theories where Lifshitz symmetry is broken with spatial anisotropy. In particular, we focus on the conditions imposed by the null energy condition, and demonstrate that it is
Kasner-type singularities and solitons with Lifshitz asymptotics
We present an exact solution in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity describing a spacetime with an anisotropic Kasner-type singularity and Lifshitz asymptotics. This configuration can also be supported
Black rubber and the non-linear elastic response of scale invariant solids
We discuss the nonlinear elastic response in scale invariant solids. Following previous work, we split the analysis into two basic options: according to whether scale invariance (SI) is a manifest or

Holographic Q-lattices
A bstractWe introduce a new framework for constructing black hole solutions that are holographically dual to strongly coupled field theories with explicitly broken translation invariance. Using a
Holography without translational symmetry
We propose massive gravity as a holographic framework for describing a class of strongly interacting quantum field theories with broken translational symmetry. Bulk gravitons are assumed to have a
On the marginally relevant operator in z = 2 Lifshitz holography
A bstractWe study holographic renormalization and RG flow in a strongly-coupled Lifshitz-type theory in 2 + 1 dimensions with dynamical exponent z = 2. The bottom-up gravity dual we use is 3 + 1
Deformations of Lifshitz holography
The simplest gravity duals for quantum critical theories with z = 2 ‘Lifshitz’ scale invariance admit a marginally relevant deformation. Generic black holes in the bulk describe the field theory with
Holographic Lifshitz flows and the null energy condition
We study asymptotically Lifshitz spacetimes and the constraints on flows between Lifshitz fixed points imposed by the null energy condition. In contrast with the relativistic holographic c-theorem,
Gravity Duals of Lifshitz-Like Fixed Points
We find candidate macroscopic gravity duals for scale-invariant but non-Lorentz invariant fixed points, which do not have particle number as a conserved quantity. We compute two-point correlation
Non-relativistic holography
We consider holography for d-dimensional scale invariant but non-Lorentz invariant field theories, which do not admit the full Schrodinger symmetry group. We find new realizations of the
The thermoelectric properties of inhomogeneous holographic lattices
A bstractWe consider inhomogeneous, periodic, holographic lattices of D = 4 Einstein-Maxwell theory. We show that the DC thermoelectric conductivity matrix can be expressed analytically in terms of
Pomeranchuk Instability in a non-Fermi Liquid from Holography
The Pomeranchuk instability, in which an isotropic Fermi surface distorts and becomes anisotropic due to strong interactions, is a possible mechanism for the growing number of experimental systems
Flows involving Lifshitz solutions
We construct gravity solutions describing renormalization group flows relating relativistic and non-relativistic conformal theories. We work both in a simple phenomenological theory with a massive
