We study classical M5 brane solutions in the probe limit in the AdS7 × S4 background geometry that preserve the minimal amount of supersymmetry. These solutions describe the holography of codimension-2 defects in the 6d boundary dual N = (0, 2) supersymmetric gauge theories. The general solution is described in terms of holomorphic functions that satisfy a scaling condition. We show the behavior of the world-volume of a special class of BPS solutions near the AdS boundary region can be… Expand

1/2-BPS states in M theory and defects in the dual CFTs
We study supersymmetric branes in AdS7 × S4 and AdS4 × S7. We show that in the former case the membranes should be viewed as M5 branes with fluxes and we identify two types of such fivebranes (theyExpand

We derive the BPS equations for D3-branes embedded in AdS5 × S5 that preserve at least two supercharges. These are given in terms of conditions on the pullbacks of some space-time differentialExpand
SOLUTIONS OF FOUR-DIMENSIONAL FIELD THEORIES VIA M-THEORY
N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories in four dimensions are studied by formulating them as the quantum field theories derived from configurations of fourbranes, fivebranes, and sixbranes in Type IIAExpand

Gauge Theory, Ramification, And The Geometric Langlands Program

In the gauge theory approach to the geometric Langlands program, ramification can be described in terms of "surface operators," which are supported on two-dimensional surfaces somewhat as Wilson orExpand
Giant gravitons from holomorphic surfaces
We introduce a class of supersymmetric cycles in spacetimes of the form AdS times a sphere or T 1;1 which can be considered as generalizations of the giant gravitons. Branes wrapped on these cyclesExpand

It has been known for some time that the AdS/CFT correspondence predicts a limit on the number of single particle states propagating on the compact spherical component of the AdS × S geometry. TheExpand
M5-branes and Wilson surfaces in AdS$_{7}$/CFT$_{6}$ correspondence
• Physics

We study AdS$_{7}$/CFT$_{6}$ correspondence between M-theory on AdS$_{7} \times S^{4}$ and the 6D $\mathcal{N} = (2,0)$ superconformal field theory. In particular we focus on Wilson surfaces. We useExpand
