PURPOSE OF REVIEW Ice hockey is a fast-paced sport played by an increasing number of children and teens across the nation. RECENT FINDINGS The risk of injury in youth hockey is high due to contact from body checking. Youth hockey programs need to educate players, coaches, and parents about the importance of knowing and following the rules as well as the dangers of body checking another player from behind.
