The present report details histopathologic changes in the testis and epididymis of rats gavaged daily for 2 to 79 d with a by-product of water disinfection, dibromoacetic acid (DBAA). On treatment day 2 abnormal retention of Step 19 spermatids was observed in animals given the highest dosage of 250 mg/kg. Additional changes on day 5 included the fusion of mature spermatids and the presence of atypical residual bodies (ARB) in the epithelium and lumen of Stage X-XII seminiferous tubules.
