Two new methods, based on the original periodic acid-Thionin Schiff-saponification-periodic acid-Basic Fuchsin Schiff (PAT-KOH-PAS) technique of Cullinget al. (1976), have been devised for the histochemical identificantion of side-chainO-acylated sialic acids.
