Activation of histaminergic and noradrenergic/adrenergic neurons in the brain stimulates the release of the neurohypophysial hormones arginine vasopressin (AVP) and oxytocin (OT) and are involved the mediation of the hormone responses to physiological stimuli such as dehydration and suckling.
