More than 80% of pregnant women suffer from nausea and vomiting, however, hyperemesis gravidarum presents in only about 1% to 3%. Hyperemesis gravidarum, or pernicious vomiting of pregnancy, which can cause weight loss, electrolyte imbalance, kidney function disorders, is a complication of pregnancy that may have serious effects to the fetus.
