Studies in the 1980s, including one from central Norway, in most cases showed that the incidence of hip fractures was increasing. In the 1990s, however, studies from Sweden and the United States indicated that the increase may have stopped. We report the current incidence of hip fractures in subjects in central Norway and compare it with that previously reported.
