The three new triterpenes (1-3) and five known triterpenes and a sterol were isolated from the acetone extract of a Turkish collection of Salvia kronenburgii. The structures of the new triterpenes were established as 1beta,2alpha-dihydroxy-3beta-acetoxy-11-oxours-12-ene (1), 2alpha,20beta-dihydroxy-3beta-acetoxyurs-9(11),12-diene (2), and 1beta,2alpha-dihydroxy-3beta-acetoxyurs-9(11),12-diene (3) on the basis of spectral analyses, including 1D and 2D NMR and mass spectroscopy. It is probable…
A new highly hydroxylated triterpene from Salvia atropatana Bunge
One new triterpenoid olean-18-ene-1β, 2α, 3β-triol (1) along with four known compounds were isolated from the chloroform extract of the aerial part of Salvia atropatana Bunge. The known compounds
Triterpenes from Salvia argentea var. aurasiaca and their antibacterial and cytotoxic activities.
Two compounds have an antibacterial effect comparable to antibiotics, revealed by bioautography on Staphylococcus aureus and determination of MIC values of active compounds by serial dilution technique against five bacteria.
Antidiabetic and cytotoxic polyhydroxylated oleanane and ursane type triterpenoids from Salvia grossheimii.
Comparing the high cytotoxicity and α-glucosidase inhibitory of the oleanane and ursane type triterpenoids suggest them as potential lead compounds for further research in anticancer and antidiabetic research.
A new lupene triterpenetriol and anticholinesterase activity of Salvia sclareoides.
A new lupene triterpenetriol was isolated from the acetone extract of the aerial parts of Salvia sclareoides and characterised as (1beta,3beta)-lup-20(29)-ene-1,3,30-triol, a remarkable activity since the standard drug rivastigmine does not inhibit acetylcholinesterase at the same concentration.
Two new polyhydroxylated triterpenoids from Salvia urmiensis and their cytotoxic activity
Two new polyhydroxylated triterpenoids were isolated from the acetone extract of the aerial parts of Salvia urmiensis Bunge and showed weak cytotoxicity, which was investigated by the MTT assay.
Phytochemical and biological activity studies on Salvia viridis L
Verbascoside (acteoside), which is a major component in this plant, showed a significant protective effect against UVA induced damage in a human skin fibroblast model in vitro.
Constituents of Salvia microphylla
A new phenolic ester 2-( p-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl eicosaheptanoic acid ester and a known one hexacosylferulate were isolated from the acetone extract of Salvia microphylla and only carnosic acid 12-methyl ether showed antimicrobial activity against S. aureus.
Triterpenoids from Salvia argentea var. aurasiaca (Pomel) Batt. & Trab. and their chemotaxonomic significance.
A chemotaxonomic survey of the triterpenoids of Salvia species show that triter penoids from the exudate of S. argentea L. aurasiaca (Pomel) Batt.
Cytotoxic Activity of Some Anatolian Salvia. Extracts and Isolated Abietane Diterpenoids
Salvia hypargeia root extract, among 16 Salvia extracts, showed the highest activity against the human ovarian cancer cell line and the fatty acid composition was the most active part of the extract.
Bioactive Triterpenes from the Root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge
The antiproliferative testing against HL‐60 cells revealed that the new compound 1 and ursolic acid (5) showed weak and moderate activities with IC50 values of 42.2 and 11.7 μM, and compounds 1–3 showed inhibitory effect on ghrelin activity.
