We demonstrate that for sufficiently high temperature T the behavior of any four-dimensional gauge theory with small coupling constant a, at distances beyond the electrical Debye screening length j/sub D/approx.1/..sqrt..a-barT, is determined precisely by the corresponding three-dimensional theory. This is the magnetic sector of the original theory, and in the non-Abelian case it is a Yang-Mills theory like three-dimensional quantum chromodynamics (QCD/sub 3/). We study QCD/sub 3/ in the loop…

High-temperature limit of Landau-gauge Yang-Mills theory
- Physics
- 2004
Abstract. The infrared properties of the high-temperature limit of Landau-gauge Yang-Mills theory are investigated. In a first step the high-temperature limit of the Dyson-Schwinger equations is…
Gauge Theories in Three Dimensions
- Physics
- 1994
Field theories in 2+ 1 space-time dimensions are of interest both intrinsically, due
to their novel properties such as actions which are topologically non-trivial, and
also due to their ability to…
Hot gluon plasma at large distances
- Physics
- 1989
The authors study some general features of a pure gluon plasma in the regime of high temperature and large distances. Starting from the continuum four-dimensional Yang-Mills theory in the…
