Since April 2000, a program using the ESO/VLT/UVES to search for early circumstellar signatures from nearby supernovae has been conducted. Until now, two Type Ia supernovae have been observed, SNe 2000cx and 2001el. Here we report on preliminary results for SNe 2001el, and we discuss how the observations can be used together with detailed modeling to derive an upper limit on the putative wind from the progenitor system. For a hydrogen-rich wind with velocity 10 km/s, the mass loss rate for the… Expand
Thermal X-Ray Emission From Young Type Ia Supernova Remnants
In the years since the launch of Chandra and XMM-Newton, the increase in the quantity and quality of X-ray observations of supernova remnants (SNRs) has been spectacular. In many of the brightestExpand

S'explora la relacio entre les supernoves de tipus Ia i l'emissio de raigs X termics que prove dels seus remanents de supernova, fent servir hidrodinamica unidimensional i calculs autoconsistentsExpand

Supernova progenitor constraints from circumstellar interaction: Type Ia
Searching for the presence of a circumstellar medium is a direct observational way to discriminate between different types of progenitor systems for Type Ia supernovae. We have modeled whether suchExpand
