High precision calibration of spectrographs in astronomy

Abstract

An Yb-fiber frequency comb was developed and employed to calibrate an astronomical spectrograph. The repeatability was photon noise limited at 300 kHz. Absolute accuracy was improved by a factor of 20 compared to traditional calibration sources.
