The authors first present some general comments on Ancor Communications, Inc.'s view of the requirements for a next-generation communications system. They then present a brief outline of the Fibre Channel Standard, followed by a description of the CXT/1000, a switching system which is being developed to implement the Fibre Channel Standard.
