We present 2323 high-amplitude δ-Scuti (HADS) candidates discovered in the Large Magellanic Cloud by the SuperMACHO survey (Rest et al.). Frequency analyses of these candidates reveal that several are multimode pulsators, including 119 whose largest amplitude of pulsation is in the fundamental (F) mode and 19 whose largest amplitude of pulsation is in the first overtone (FO) mode. Using Fourier decomposition of the HADS light curves, we find that the period-luminosity (PL) relation defined by…

The period–luminosity relation for δ Scuti stars using Gaia DR2 parallaxes
- PhysicsMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
- 2019
We have examined the period-luminosity (P-L) relation for delta Scuti stars using Gaia DR2 parallaxes. We included 228 stars from the catalogue of Rodriguez et al. (2000), as well as 1124 stars…
A Pulsation Review of Delta Scuti and Related Stars
- Physics
- 2015
The \(\delta \) Sct stars are by far the most common type of pulsating stars at spectral type A. In this, the most extensive review of \(\delta \) Sct stars in the Kepler era, the following topics…

- Physics
- 2013
We report the detection of 388 pulsating variable stars (and some additional miscellaneous variables) in the Carina dwarf spheroidal galaxy over an area covering the full visible extent of the galaxy…
Monitoring a high-amplitude δ Scuti star for 152 days: discovery of 12 additional modes and modulation effects in the light curve of CoRoT 101155310
- Physics
- 2011
Aims. The detection of small-amplitude nonradial modes in high-amplitude δ Sct (HADS) variables has been very elusive until at least five of them were detected in the light curve of V974 Oph obtained…
Asteroseismology of Pulsating Stars
- Physics, Geology
- 2015
The success of helioseismology is due to its capability of measuring p-mode oscillations in the Sun. This allows us to extract information on the internal structure and rotation of the Sun from the…
V2551 Cyg: a pulsating star with enigmatic peculiarities
- Physics
- 2017
Intensive photometric and spectral observations of the variable star V2551 Cyg are presented. The light curve shape reveals that the target is a pulsating star, contrary to its previous…
DELTA SCUTI, SX PHOENICIS, AND RR LYRAE STARS IN GALAXIES AND GLOBULAR CLUSTERS
- Physics

The distances to four galaxies and two globular clusters which are derived with the aid of period-luminosity and period-color relations of δ Scuti and SX Phe stars are compared to the distances…
Faint (and bright) variable stars in the satellites of the Milky Way
- Physics
- 2017
I describe two ongoing projects related with variable stars in the satellites of the MilkyWay. In the first project, we are searching for dwarf Cepheid stars (a.k.a δ Scuti and/or SX Phe) in some of…
Variable stars in the Globular Cluster NGC 2808
- Physics
- 2012
The first calibrated broadband BVI time-series photometry is presented for the variable stars in NGC 2808, with observations spanning a range of twenty-eight years. We have also redetermined the…

The Identification of Pulsation Modes of High‐Amplitude δ Scuti Stars in ω Centauri and the Carina Galaxy
- Physics
- 2000
We analyze photometric observations of high-amplitude d Scuti stars (HADS) in the globu- lar cluster u Cen and the Carina galaxy. The pulsation modes of the HADS are inferred primarily from their…
Second Overtone Pulsators among δ Scuti Stars
