Background: Metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL)-producing Acinetobacter baumannii is a growing therapeutic concern, worldwide. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of SPM and IMP type genes among A. baumannii isolates from hospitalized patients in Loghman Hakim and Milad hospitals, Tehran-Iran from 2012 to 2013. Patients and Methods: This study was conducted on 108 A. baumannii isolates collected from two hospitals in Tehran, Iran. Antibiotic susceptibility tests were…
Prevalence of metallo‑beta‑lactamase producing Acinetobacter baumannii isolated from intensive care unit in tertiary care hospitals.
TLDR
The results of this study showed high rate of the MBL producing A-baumannii isolates in the authors' region and displayed that MBLs producing A. baumannii strains are emerging threats to ICUs.
Emergence of Multidrug Resistance and Metallo-beta-lactamase Producing Acinetobacter baumannii Isolated from Patients in Shiraz, Iran
TLDR
The frequency of drug resistance among the clinical samples of A. baumannii isolated in this study was very high and all MβL producing isolates were multidrug resistance, suggesting systematic surveillance to detect M βL producing bacteria and rational prescription and use ofcarbapenems could be helpful to prevent the spread of carbapenem resistance.
Phenotypic and Molecular Detection of Metallo-Beta-Lactamase Genes Among Imipenem Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii Strains Isolated From Patients with Burn Injuries
TLDR
The most effective agent against the studied isolates was colistin, and the high prevalence of MBLs-producing P. aeruginosa and A. baumannii strains in the study were one of the major concerns.
Frequency of Metalo beta Lactamase genes, bla IMP1, INT 1 in Acinetobacter baumanii isolated from burn patients North of Iran
TLDR
An increased frequency of MBL-encoding genes (VIM, IMP, IMP) and class I integron genes in clinical strains of Acinetobacter baumanii isolated from burn patients in Sari, North of Iran revealed that the rate of resistant to antibiotic among A. baumannii is high.
Phenotypic and genotypic detection of metallo-β-lactamases in A. baumanii isolates obtained from clinical samples in Shahrekord, southwest Iran
TLDR
The prevalence of metallo-β-lactamases isolates containing A. baumanii is increasing and the coexistence of various carbapenemases is dominantly act as a major problem.
Metallo-Beta-Lactamase-Producing Acinetobacter spp. from Clinical Isolates at a Tertiary Care Hospital in Ghana
TLDR
Strict antibiotics usage plan and infection control measures are required to prevent the spread of MBL-producing Acinetobacter spp.
Prevalence of Metallo-β-Lactamases in Acinetobacter baumannii in Iran: A Review and ‎Meta-Analysis.
TLDR
Based on the results, further attention should be given to report MBL genes in A. baumannii based on molecular detection rather than the phenotypic one, and more effort should be focused on ICU sections in order to avoid the distribution of resistant genes.
Molecular Study of Acinetobacter baumannii Isolates for Metallo-β-Lactamases and Extended-Spectrum-β-Lactamases Genes in Intensive Care Unit, Mansoura University Hospital, Egypt
TLDR
From this study, it is concluded that multidrug resistant (MDR) A. baumannii with MBLs activity was the most common isolate and careful monitoring for the presence of MDR A.baumanni among hospitalized patients is recommended to avoid wide dissemination of antibiotic resistance.
METALLO-BETA-LACTAMASES PRODUCING ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII: A MAJOR THREAT TO PATIENTS HEALTH
TLDR
Among MBL genes, blaVIM is more than other genes in Iran, and the prevalence of s-lactamase-producing isolates, and their isolation from life-threatening infections, is increasing worldwide at an alarming rate.
Detection of ISAba1 in Acinetobacter baumannii Strains Carrying OXA Genes Isolated From Iranian Burns Patients
TLDR
The results of this study indicate that the emergence of OXA-type carbapenemases in A. baumannii causing nosocomial infections in burns patients could be of importance for hospital infection control systems in Iran.

TLDR
The aims of this study were to evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibility of A. baumannii isolates and to determine the prevalence of MBL genes among carbapenem non-susceptible isolates, which found 31 MBL-producing isolates were multidrug resistant.
