The present study uses data for ten European countries to investigate the characteristics of new regimes of work organisation and systems of remuneration. In the first part we briefly outline the characteristics of the firms adopting new work practices and the main features of employees’ direct participation schemes as well as their relationships with the traditional industrial relations system.
